Master's students very satisfied with the study environment at Aalen University of Applied Sciences

The Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) has published its latest results for masters/master's programmes. The masters/master's programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science at Aalen University of Applied Sciences scored in the top range in nine out of ten evaluation categories. The ranking assesses, rates Germany-wide Master's programs based on quantitative indicators and student opinions.

Aalen students are very satisfied with the study environment: In the categories General study environment, Academic provision, Organization of studies, Supervision, Counselling by lecturers, Support during studies, Digital teaching elements, Research orientation, Practical/vocational orientation of teaching and Transition to Master's studies, the degree programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science placed in the top range.

Prof. Dr. Markus Merkel, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, is delighted with the outstanding results: "With our practice-orientated teaching, state-of-the-art equipped laboratories / labs and innovative projects, we liaise with qualified specialist knowledge at a very high level. Our Advanced Materials and Manufacturing research master's program benefits from this in particular with attractive research and development projects. We are also at a very high level internationally, which is reflected in our growing number of English-language Study Programmes offered."

The fact that the research strength of Aalen University of Applied Sciences is also a great advantage for students is reflected in the results. In the Field of Study Materials Engineering / Materials Science, students particularly emphasized the research orientation in the CHE Ranking. Numerous research projects conducted by Professors / Professors allow students to participate. Application-oriented contents such as digital product development, machine learning, battery technology, renewable energies, laser material processing, additive manufacturing, AI-based emotion recognition, innovative surface, drive and robot technology are liaised with in laboratories / labs and projects. Sustainable materials, recyclable plastics and lightweight construction are also the focus of research and teaching.

In addition, the new right to award doctorates for Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW) in Baden-Württemberg, which Aalen University of Applied Sciences played a key role in shaping, offers talented young researchers new prospects.

Aalen University of Applied Sciences also performs significantly better than the average of all universities in the field (of) digital teaching elements. "In recent years, we have developed many innovative teaching and learning formats. Artificial intelligence is currently finding its way into professorships and opening up previously unimagined possibilities," says University Rector Prof. Dr. Harald Riegel.
