In exceptional cases, the Career Center may recognize external, ongoing, unpaid, and volunteer work of a social or charitable nature performed in clubs or social institutions.
The following conditions must be met:
- Continuous: Period/duration generally at least one semester
- Volunteer: no compensation
- Responsible: Active in organization and leadership, i.e., you must hold a position such as director, chairperson, or coach
- Only activities undertaken since the start of your studies count. Volunteer activities cannot be credited retroactively.
- The volunteer work must be certified by the club or a nonprofit organization.
For credit to be granted, a certificate must include the following:
- Official letterhead, including a stamp and signature
- Name, student ID number, start date of studies
- Degree program
- Proof of volunteer work performed without compensation
- Activities / Tasks
- Number of hours worked
- Time period
Credit can only be granted after prior review by the Career Center. Please submit your certificate to our P . O. box : Beethovenstraße 1, Career Center P.O. Box No. 215. We require the original document; copies or scans are not accepted. This P.O. box is intended solely for certificates of external volunteer work.
The review may take some time, especially during the semester. You will receive an email as soon as we have reviewed your application.
Important: We will confirm that the volunteer work meets all criteria of the guidelines. To pass the Studies module, you must then write a final report. Submit this report along with all certificates and supporting documents to your degree program.
