Soccer is more than just tables and transfers - soccer is also a driving force for the economy and contributes to value creation and employment. At the same time, it acts as a social glue and brings people together. Holger Sanwald, Chair of the (managing) board of 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 e. V., and Alexander Wehrle, Chair of the (managing) board of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG, will shed light on these areas of tension in soccer on Monday, 16.03.2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Great Hall of Aalen University of Applied Sciences.
How are the clubs dealing with structural change in the economy, business? Can the two clubs influence their actions to have a long-term positive impact on society? How can and must soccer counteract the (perceived) insecurity in society? The moderator tandem Dr. Andreja Benkovic from IHK Ostwürttemberg and Thomas Schaber from Wirtschaftsclub Ostwürttemberg) will discuss these and other topics with the two visiting guests. Afterwards, the audience will have the opportunity to expand on what they have heard with their own questions and contribute directly.
