The thesis must be registered no later than 3 months after completion of all modules. If you fail to register within this period, you will be assigned a topic by the examination board of your degree program.

Please complete this form in full and submit it to the Student Service Center by e-mail with the signature of your first supervisor. The submission can also be made via Studmail.

Submission of your Bachelor thesis

The thesis must be submitted digitally on a data carrier to the SSC (Beethovenstraße, room 120) by the deadline. Please clarify in advance with your examiners whether bound copies on paper are required. Please hand in a printout of the cover page of your thesis and the completed declaration of independence with the data carrier.

Submission of your Master's thesis

At least one bound copy must be submitted to the SSC (Beethovenstraße, room 120) by the deadline. Please clarify in advance with your examiners whether further bound copies are required or whether additional digital copies are needed. Please hand in the completed declaration of independence with your thesis.

The submission always takes place in the SSC (Beethovenstraße, room 120). This is the only way to ensure that the time of submission is documented in a legally secure manner. Submission by post is possible. In this case, the deadline is deemed to have been met. We therefore recommend that you send the documents by registered mail so that the post office can issue you with a corresponding receipt.

General information on submitting your thesis

If the end of the submission deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the deadline is extended to the next working day.

According to the Studies and Examination Regulations, when submitting a thesis you must declare in writing that the thesis was written independently and that no sources or aids other than those specified were used. The University of Applied Sciences provides a sample text for this purpose, which you should incorporate into the digital/bound version of the thesis.

The declaration of independence provided by the University of Applied Sciences also differentiates whether the use of generative AI is not desired, permitted or even required. Your supervisor will agree with you which version is to be used.

If you are planning a stay abroad and would like to earn credits at another University of Applied Sciences or University that are to be recognized towards your Studies, please contact the International Office of your degree program before your stay abroad and agree on a Learning Agreement. Achievements agreed in the Learning Agreement will be recognized after your stay abroad without further application as soon as you have submitted the relevant proof of passing.

The following applies to credits that were not agreed in the Learning Agreement:

• Please submit an application for recognition of achievements within 6 weeks of the start of lectures in the semester after you have returned from abroad. Only credits that you have applied for can be considered for recognition. Recognition at a later date is no longer possible!

You can take a leave of absence from Studies for one semester for important reasons. Please apply for a leave of absence via the online portal. The application must be submitted before the start of the lecture period of the semester in question.

The full semester fee must be paid for a semester of leave. If you are subject to a fee obligation (foreign students or second degree students), this fee is waived for the semester in question.

The rapid spread of generative artificial intelligence ("generative AI") challenges us as a university community. The document under the following link is intended to provide you with initial assistance on the topic of generative AI. The guidance explains the existing legal regulations; the laws, statutes and specifications of the examination boards that apply to you are and remain legally binding. De-registration is currently only possible by application using the application form provided for this purpose.

As a rule, de-registration always takes effect at the end of a semester. If there are special reasons for which you can provide appropriate evidence (e.g. starting employment), you can also apply for de-registration at an earlier date.

NOTE: Even in the case of de-registration during the semester, the examination rights always runs until the end of the semester. An impending loss of examination entitlement cannot be avoided by early de-registration.

Important: The student has a duty to bring and provide evidence. Please ensure that you adhere to the deadlines, the date of the doctor's visit and the correct form of the sick note!

If several examinations are missed during an examination period, the reasons for each individual absence must be reported immediately after the respective examination and not only after all missed examinations have been completed. However, if it is known at the time the certificate is issued that several examinations will be missed within the period of incapacity to take the examination, the excuse for all examinations concerned must be submitted together in advance.

Information on data protection

In accordance with § 8 para. 2, § 12 para. 1 and § 32 para. 4 of the State Higher Education Act (LHG) in conjunction with the respective study and examination regulations applicable to students at Aalen University of Applied Sciences, Aalen University of Applied Sciences has the right to collect the data necessary to fulfill its tasks with regard to the course of studies and examinations. This also includes data relating to non-participation in examinations due to illness. The data collected here will not be passed on to third parties. The data is deleted in accordance with the requirements for the deletion of student data, usually 1 year after the end of Studies

If an examination is canceled due to illness (withdrawal after the start of the examination), this examination attempt can only be counted as a failed attempt if the following conditions are met:

• Work on the examination must be stopped immediately.

• The person concerned must inform the examination invigilator in the examination room immediately.

• The person concerned must seek medical treatment immediately.

• The illness must be documented by a medical certificate. Please use the form below for this purpose.

Approximately six weeks after the start of lectures in the respective semester (see Aalen University of Applied Sciences schedule ), the online exam registration will be activated on the Internet. Please register for the examinations you wish to take in the respective semester within the period specified in the schedule. You are responsible for registering yourself!

It is no longer possible to register after the end of the period specified in the University of Applied Sciences' schedule.

Once you have registered for examinations, please check whether all your achievements have been recorded in the system. Create a receipt for the examinations you have registered for and add this to your documents as proof of examination registration. If the data is incorrect, please contact the Student Service Center immediately.

For the registration of additional services, elective services and also for the registration of third attempts, which cannot be registered via the homepage of Aalen University of Applied Sciences (QIS systems), please use the following form and send it to us via your Studmail, completed, signed and on time.

If you have lost your right to take examinations in your degree program and you have submitted an application to continue your studies or have lodged an appeal (statement on the hearing, objection or complaint), this has a suspensive effect. This means that you may continue to study and take examinations until a final decision has been made on your case.

During the practical semester, you may take a maximum of three examinations that you have already attempted at least once.

You may not take an examination at the first attempt unless you have withdrawn from the examination at short notice due to illness in a previous semester.

Students with restricted admission usually have "Learning Agreements", which have already been agreed in advance with the degree programs of Aalen University of Applied Sciences and the partner university. If you exmatriculate with immediate effect within one month of the start of lectures, the semester fee, the contribution to the student body and tuition fees can be refunded on request.

No refund will be made in the event of exmatriculation at a later date.

Reimbursement of the Studierendenwerk fee will be made via the Studierendenwerk Ulm. You can find more information here.

If you wish to continue your Studies, you must re-register via the online portal within the re-registration period and pay the fees and contributions for the following semester.

Re-registration periods:
For the summer semester: January 15 - January 31
For the winter semester: July 15 - July 31

If you do not re-register on time, you will be exmatriculated ex officio and lose your study place and student status. Studies can then only be resumed by submitting a new Application.

Re-registration for graduates

You must be enrolled until the semester in which you take your last examination - including any repeat examination that may be required.

Even after the last examination, you can remain enrolled until the end of the semester in which you receive your certificate.

As long as you are enrolled, you will continue to benefit from student status, access to the library and university portals as well as the use of IT services. Early de-registration will end these benefits.

Please submit proof of workloads to the Career Center.

• You can submit the documents for the external honorary post directly to the Career Center's P.O. Box 215 in the P.O. Box facility (Beethovenstraße 1).

• Please submit reports on participation in online events to the Career Center by e-mail.

Please register for Studies Generale via the online exam registration. You can register at any time during the semester.

Afterwards, please submit your Studies Generale report to the Internship Office of your degree program.
