Start of Studies at Aalen University

Aalen University of Applied Sciences makes lecture schedules available to all students through the “StarPlan” program. Here, you’ll always find the current schedules for your semester at the start of the semester. Select your degree program, and the program will generate your current lecture schedule. If you subscribe to your schedule, you’ll also receive real-time updates on any room or time changes or cancellations of your lectures. In StarPlan, you’ll also receive your exam schedule toward the end of the semester.

You received your student ID card along with your enrollment documents. This chip card will accompany you throughout your studies. You can use it to borrow books from the library, pay at our cafeterias, the student dining hall, and coffee machines, as well as for copies at the University of Applied Sciences’ printers. The card also serves as proof of your student status.

To use your student ID card as a payment card, you must first load funds onto it. You can do this conveniently at one of our card vending machines using your debit card. You’ll find card vending machines in the cafeteria on Beethovenstraße, in the dining hall, in the library, or in the copy room on the G2 floor of the Burren building. Simply have your debit card ready and follow the on-screen instructions to top up your card.

In your first semester, you’ll receive a student ID that’s already validated—meaning the current semester is printed directly on the card. Throughout your studies, you’ll need to revalidate your ID after re-registering for the upcoming semester. There are special validation stations for this purpose. These are located on Beethovenstraße in the cafeteria and in front of Room 271b. On the Burren campus, the validation machine is located in the library.

In our learning management system, “Canvas,” you’ll find everything you need for your studies. Here, teaching and learning materials for your courses are made available. You can participate in online or hybrid lectures, provided they are offered in your degree program, receive up-to-date notifications about your courses, and access information such as group assignments for project work. Aalen University of Applied Sciences also offers additional digital tools such as Zoom, DigiExam, and bwGPT, which you can use during your studies.

You must register for your exams every semester. You can do this online via QIS using the same login credentials as for other University of Applied Sciences services. Be sure to pay close attention to the registration deadlines, which you can find in the exam schedule. You can also find your exam schedule in StarPlan.

To re-enroll at Aalen University of Applied Sciences, use the university’s online portal, where you’ll find the online re-enrollment application. There, you can also pay the semester fee and download the relevant certificates after you’ve successfully re-enrolled. Once you have re-registered, nothing stands in the way of your next semester at the University of Applied Sciences.
