The law for the protection of whistleblowers – Whistleblower Protection Act – was introduced to provide special protection to individuals who wish to report grievances in their work environment. This applies to both employees under collective agreements and civil servants. Civil servants who make a report or disclosure under the Whistleblower Protection Act are exempt from following the official channels.
To report a tip, the information must be related to professional activities or previous employment. This means that you are either currently working at Aalen University or have worked there in the past or have been in contact with Aalen University due to your professional activities.
Furthermore, it is important that you have good reasons to believe that the information you are reporting is true, meaning it should be based on reliable information or observations.
Reports that you submit can be made confidentially. To ensure this protection, a whistleblower office has been established centrally at the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts for the institutions in the area of responsibility of said Ministry.
The whistleblower reporting office can be reached as follows:
- By email to: hinweisgebermeldestelle[at]mwk.bwl.de
- By mail:
Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg,
“Whistleblower Reporting Office”
Königstraße 46
70173 Stuttgart
- Upon request, a personal appointment can be arranged with a person from the whistleblower reporting office.
- The submission of anonymous reports is possible.
Whistleblowers can choose whether to submit their report to an internal or external reporting office. The federal government has established a central external reporting office at the Federal Office of Justice.
The existing reporting systems at the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin - Whistleblower Office) as well as at the Federal Cartel Office (Federal Cartel Office - Reports of Cartel Violations) will continue to operate for their specific areas of responsibility.
