October 2025 At Aalen University of Applied Sciences, international early-career researchers meet every Tuesday for a shared lunch at the “Drop-in Lunch.” During these gatherings, participants exchange ideas about their research, share personal experiences, or discuss plans for the upcoming weekend. Often, a surprise guest joins them to provide insight into a specific topic. The initiative is organized by Embrace, the central service center for international researchers at Aalen University.

Mo, 01. September 2025 Last weekend, the annual conference of the German Academic International Network (GAIN) was held in Boston, USA. Representing the Rectors’ Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences Baden-Württemberg (HAW BW e.V.), Professor Dr. Harald Riegel, Rector of Aalen University and member of the Executive Board of the Rectors’ Conference, provided researchers active in the United States with insights into career opportunities, with a particular focus on positions at German Universities of Applied Sciences.

August 2025 International students Rita from Italy and Ahmad from Pakistan fondly recall their first days in Aalen: from the colorful city festival to the warm welcome by the International Center. The orientation weeks at Aalen University of Applied Sciences not only provided practical support but also countless opportunities to make new friends and discover the region. Today, both are committed to helping other international students, sharing their experiences and insights.

June 2025 At the OPEN CAMPUS of Aalen University of Applied Sciences on May 24, the International Center welcomed guests from near and far under the motto “Dorothy’s Journey: Stories and Flavors that Connect Worlds.” Visitors sampled Iranian specialties, enjoyed South African Chakalaka, and engaged in lively conversations—the cheerful atmosphere was almost tangible. Yet what appeared at first glance to be simply a colorful day of encounters also highlighted something more profound: the key role of Embrace. This project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) as part of the HAW.International program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), has become an essential pillar in supporting international researchers at Aalen University.

The university maintains close relationships with well over 130 partner universities. In a loose series, we present the inspiring stories of students from our partner universities who have decided to continue their academic journey at Aalen University - this time with Omar Quasim AL-Maaitah from Jordan.
Tu, 06. May 2025 Immigration Office on Campus – Book Your Appointment! We are pleased to introduce IMPAACT - a new mobile in-person counseling service for international students at Aalen University provided by the Aalen Immigration Office. With IMPAACT, you can now meet with the Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde) Aalen directly at the International Center – no need to go to the Rathaus. If you need to extend your visa or require an in-person consultation (Vorsprache), this service is for you! Here are the details: Appointments take place on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons. Appointments are currently available for international students residing in Aalen and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please begin by completing the sign-up form.
