What can companies do to provide sufficient protection against cyber attacks? In order to remain successful in the future, SMEs must deal with the challenges of digitalization. This year's Transfer Day is dedicated to this topic with the motto "Cybersecurity in the age of digitalization - securing companies for the future". It will take place on April 18, 2024 at Aalen University of Applied Sciences. The transfer day offers interested companies and commercial, economical, profitable institutions the opportunity to obtain free information on the topic and exchange know-how.
Current threat situation
The topic of cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important due to the current threat situation. Cyber attacks can not only cause financial damage to companies, but can also cause lasting damage to their reputation. "It is of the utmost importance to raise awareness of cybersecurity at management level so that it is not dismissed as an exclusively IT topic," says Professor Dr. Ralf-Christian Härting. Aalen University of Applied Sciences, IHK Ostwürttemberg and digiZ (Digitalisierungszentrum Ostwürttemberg) are jointly organizing the Transfer Day. With various event formats, they have set themselves the goal of sensitizing companies in the region to the importance of cybersecurity and supporting them in the implementation of measures.
Securing companies for the future
The 10th Transfer Day will focus on the topic of "Cybersecurity in the age of digitalization - securing companies for the future". The conference will take place on April 18, 2024 from 1 p.m. at Aalen University of Applied Sciences and is aimed at decision-makers in the region. The event is organized by the two Departments of Business Administration for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Computer Science, with Prof. Dr. Christoph Karg and Prof. Dr. Ralf-Christian Härting, who also lead the research project CyberWuP (Cybersecurity, Economic Protection and Prevention) on the topic at the institution of higher education.
Getting to know prevention measures
During the transfer day, current research topics and practical projects will be talked about and discussed with the audience by both researchers and experienced experts from the practice; practical experience in the field of corporate cybersecurity. "We have succeeded in attracting Manuel Bach, a top-class keynote speaker with many years of funding for professors; appointment funds in the field (of) IT Security," says Professor Christoph Karg. Bach has been working at the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) since 2011, where he initially headed the National Cyber Defense Center. He is currently responsible for setting up the "Cyber security for small and medium-sized enterprises" paper/talk at the BSI.
Live hacking events
In addition, other companies such as PlanB GmbH, ditis Systeme, SySS GmbH, Fornax GmbH and INNEO Solutions GmbH/ DSS Datenschutz & Service GmbH and the Cybersecurity Agency Baden-Württemberg (CSBW) will present best-practice examples in workshops and discuss current opportunities and challenges in practice; practical experience. A live hacking event will illustrate possible risks and underline the importance of proactive security measures. Finally, a get-together will offer the opportunity to exchange ideas and network with experts.
About the Transfer Day
Since 2006, Aalen University of Applied Sciences' Transfer Day has served to promote knowledge transfer from the university to the regional economy, business and the funding of the exchange of know-how between companies. The conference takes place at regular intervals and is thus an essential link between research and practice; practical experience in the economically strong state of Baden-Württemberg.
