M.Sc. Vision Science and Business (Optometry) (part-time)

The Aalen master's degree program M.Sc. Vision Science and Business (Optometry) is on a part-time basis allowing for full-time employment and takes depending on the workload of each individual student 2 to 3 years.

The Aalen master's degree program is precisely aligned with the European Diploma Optometry (EDO). It fully covers all clinical/optometric competencies of part B, C and D of the European Diploma Optometry (EDO). Aalen master's graduates receive the internationally recognized Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree. The classes are lectured in English predominantly by renowned professors from our US-American Partner University Pacific University College of Optometry (Forest Grove, OR).

Direct classroom (and whenever possible online at a top level) and laboratory workshops are presented once a month over an extended weekend (Friday through Tuesday). Experienced Alumni and optometry practice owners from Germany, Switzerland, Croatia and Slovenia ensures that what has been learned from the US-American Professors can be applied in practice in small groups in the well-equipped laboratories at Aalen University on these weekends.

There is also the opportunity to participate in clinical visits in the USA twice.

Firstly at SUNY (The State University of New York)

  • Binocular Vision / Vision Therapy / Low Vision
  • Pediatric
  • Contactlenses
  • Ocular Disease
  • Comprehensive eye exams

In addition, students our Master students have the chance to attend the Sports Vision class with Professors Graham Erickson and Fraser Horn at Pacific University College of Optometry (Forest Grove, OR) and visit clinical practices specializing in vision therapy in Seattle or the Oregon area.

These clinical visits to the US are an option for all participants - they aren't mandatory - but always 'unforgetable'.

Applications are possible and welcome at any time. I look forward to hearing from you!
