On 6 December 2014, the Board of Trustees of Pacific University officially announced that Prof. Dietmar Kümmel will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Pacific University, Oregon, USA, on 16 May 2015 for his wide-ranging vision and great achievements in the development of optometry in Europe and the establishment and expansion of international cooperation between universities, professors and students. The Pacific University, founded in 1849 and the oldest university on the American West Coast, bestows this title extremely rarely. The Aalen University of Applied Sciences is also pleased to receive this outstanding award from Prof. Dr. h. c. Dietmar Kümmel very much.

Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dietmar Kümmel: Doctor of Science Sc. D. honoris causa

Professor Dietmar Kuemmel wants to be receiving an honorary degree (DSc) from Pacific University, College of Optometry, this year on May 16th. He is being recognized by our sister' university in the US for his remarkable vision and leadership to advance European optometry through the expansion of optometric science in this region. He continues to serve as a role model and mentor to students, faculty and colleagues in the profession.

Der Masterstudiengang wird 20 Jahre alt!

The master program "Vision Science and Business (Optometry)" is turning 20 years old! That is an extraordinary achievement and is a proof of the high quality standard the Aalen University is delivering each year again and again. 20 years are a big milestone and deserve to be celebrated appropriately and this is going to be happen by multiple events throughout this year. The first event was the traditional Alumni-Meeting in Benediktbeuern with over 100 participants on the first weekend of July. On top of that we had a symposium about the future of the Optometry on the 11.11.2022 at the Aalen University. We also designed a Jubilee Publication to look back on 20 very succesfull and eventful years of the M.Sc. Vision Science and Business (Optometry). Enjoy!
