Th, 23. February 2023 → Germany is a country poor in raw materials, and we are dependent on others not only for energy: critical metals and rare earths - without them, modern technology would not work. And if we had a fatal tie to Russia for natural gas, the critical partner for many other raw materials is China. How big is the damage, why are we dependent and how do we get away from it? Werner Eckert, SWR2 editor, discusses with Prof. Dr. Dagmar Goll from the management team of the Institute for Materials Research (IMFAA) at Aalen University, Prof. Dr. Hubertus Bardt, Institute of the German Economy, Cologne, and Jakob Kullik, political scientist and author, Chemnitz.
