Tu, 31. May 2022 → In order to further optimize electric vehicles, researchers worldwide are looking for new concepts as well as manufacturing processes. One possible drive concept for sustainable, low-emission electric mobility is the so-called wheel hub drive. Here, the motor is advantageously accommodated in the smallest possible space in the wheel hub of the electric vehicle. At Aalen University, too, research is being conducted at the LaserApplicationCenter (LAZ) to further develop this type of motor. A research project is currently working on using laser-based, additive and subtractive manufacturing processes to produce components that offer maximum performance with low power consumption. An important milestone has now been reached.
