Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt, Managing Director of Photonics BW, and Prof. Dr. Rudolf Weber from the Institute for Beam Tools at the University of Stuttgart (IFSW) welcomed all participants and opened a short round of introductions. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Harald Riegel, President of Aalen University and LAZ director, introduced Aalen University as the HAW with the most research in the state as well as the activities and projects around the LAZ.

The next item on the agenda was four specialist pitches by LAZ master's and doctoral students. Max-Jonathan Kleefoot and Jens Sandherr presented laser-based surface modification to increase the fast-charging capability of lithium-ion batteries. Sebastian Funken then reported on laser materials processing of glass using ultrashort pulse lasers to produce microstructures. The third presentation by David Kolb and Julian Schurr was dedicated to powder bed-based additive manufacturing of magnetic components. Finally, Markus Hofele presented laser polishing of highly reflective additively manufactured metal components.

Following the technical pitches, everyone had the opportunity to put current challenges or solutions up for discussion in the expert panel in order to jointly find new approaches or applications. Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt and Dr. Horst Sickinger, managing directors of bayern photonics, went on to present the upcoming events and projects of OptecNet Deutschland, the umbrella organization of regional innovation networks Optical Technologies, in particular with the OptecNet Deutschland Annual Conference as an industry get-together from April 25 - 26, 2023 in Fürstenfeldbruck as well as the trade fair "LASER World of PHOTONICS" from June 27 - 30, 2023 and a renewed joint booth. In order to make the theoretical content of the technical pitches tangible, the participants were then given a variety of insights into the laboratories of the new research building at Aalen University.

The AG meeting then came to a pleasant conclusion at the traditional Laser-Stammtisch.
