A Posteriori lighting: How to adjust the light in photos after taking them | Computational photography refers to techniques in which photos or photo series are taken in an unusual way in order to gain more information and image quality using algorithms. Here we look at a particularly interesting technique: a-posteriori lighting. Using a tripod, several images of a scene are taken with exactly one light source switched on at a time, while the other lights are switched off. As light is additive from a physical point of view, the images can now be combined to achieve optimum lighting of the scene.
