This ranking is the biggest user-oriented university ranking that comprises information about 1,500 universities from 99 countries, more than 3,280 faculties, about 10,500 study programs among 16 disciplines. On the basis of their own preferences and priorities U-Multirank universities can be assessed along 39 indicators in five dimensions: research, teaching and learning, international orientation, knowledge transfer and regional engagement. Interested parties can create their own individual, multi-dimensional university ranking online on the website.

The highest participation was in the field of business studies. The dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ingo Scheuermann, emphasizes: ‘This year Aalen University could further expand its leading position reached from the CHE-Ranking 2014 in the disciplines of Business Science (International Business Studies and Business Studies for small and medium-sized enterprises) and Industrial Engineering. This is even more exceptional – considering the fact, that all categories under analysis have been assessed more competitively in international comparison.’ In both disciplines, Aalen University positioned itself in the national top group of universities with the highest amount of A-scores (“very good”).

‘As the only university of applied science, Aalen University has reached the highest number of A-scores and positioned itself under the top 5 German universities. We are really proud to have reached this ranking in competition with highly reputable universities like the WHU – Otto-Beisheim School of Management, EBS University for Business and Law, University of Mannheim and the Technical University of Munich. In the discipline of Industrial Engineering, we even have made it into the top 3’, Ingo Scheuermann gladly comments and adds: ‘Especially in the category ‘teaching and learning’ students stated Aalen University a high practical orientation, close contact with teachers, high learning experience and quality as well as an excellent organization of the programs. This high satisfaction of our students is crucial for us.’ Faculty of Management and Business Sciences is continuously improving further: ‘We have incorporated important future topics in our study programs to future-enable our students for their professional life. Especially in topics such as Industry 4.0 / Internet of Things, Big Data and Data Science we have strengthened our efforts through offering new study programs, establishing horizontal competencies and new laboratories, that have helped us to attract interdisciplinary research projects.’

Also, Aalen University’s Rector Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schneider is glad about the excellent ranking in international comparison: ‘In the area of internationalization a substantial progress has been achieved, in particular through the intensification of our partner network and the successful implementation of an International Summer School.’
