PhD Studentships
There is currently 1 open position for PhD students in the groups.
Application Deadline
01 April 2022
Details
The goals of the research project are to develop automated measuring methods equipped with a self-learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) that will be able to detect workpiece anomalies in the machining of their digital twins and use the information to ultimately improve the measuring of workpieces. The research programme involves two specific projects designed to study AI-based measuring solutions. This project will investigate the AI development and examine decision-making for reliable virtual measurements.
Academic criteria
Candidates should hold or expect to gain a Master's level qualification in a relevant subject area. We particularly welcome applicants with a computer science degree and an interest in applying machine learning and AI techniques to real scientific problems.
Supervisor(s)
Prof. Dieter William Joenssen
How to apply
The successful candidate will be integrated into the PhD programme of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London. As part of your application please include a CV and one page statement outlining your suitability for this PhD programme. If you wish to have an informal chat with Professor Joenssen about his project, please feel free to contact him on dieter.joenssen@hs-aalen.de directly. International candidates are welcome, as are German citizens and permanent residents.
Application Deadline
03 April 2022
