Aalen University of Applied Sciences underscored its international research expertise at the renowned Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems Conference (KES) 2025 in Japan. Nine researchers from the university attended the conference in Osaka, where they presented their work. In addition to delivering academic presentations, professors from Aalen University also contributed actively to shaping the conference program and evaluating submitted papers.

The Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems Conference (KES) is regarded as one of the most prestigious international conferences in business informatics, attracting leading researchers each year from the fields of computer science, engineering, and business. This year, the conference took place in Osaka, Japan—with Aalen University playing a significant role.

More than ten academic contributions from various research fields were accepted from professors, doctoral candidates, and researchers of the Faculties of Business and Health, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and Electronics and Computer Science, as well as from the Graduate Campus. This makes Aalen University one of the most strongly represented German institutions at this year’s conference.

Numerous professors from Aalen University of Applied Sciences served on the Program Committee and evaluated submitted academic papers. Particularly active were faculty members from the SME Management and Business Informatics programs within the Faculty of Business and Health. In addition, Prof. Dr. Ralf-Christian Härting, head of the SME Management and Business Development degree programs, played a key role in shaping the conference’s scientific program as a member of the KES Advisory Board.

“The KES is one of the most prestigious international platforms in the field of business informatics. The fact that Aalen University is represented with so many research contributions and active roles once again demonstrates the dedication and success of our research community,” said Prof. Dr. Ralf-Christian Härting.

He added that the university’s invitation to serve as the hosting cooperation partner for KES 2028 is further evidence of the trust and recognition Aalen University receives within the international research community.
