Students enrolled in the Electrical Engineering program at Aalen University now have the opportunity to obtain a Double Degree at the International University Liaison Indonesia (IULI) in Indonesia as part of their studies. Through this Double Degree program, participants can simultaneously earn two academic degrees—one from Aalen University and one from the partner institution in Indonesia—by completing an integrated study abroad component. This new partnership in Southeast Asia further strengthens the department’s international orientation and expands its global academic network, offering students a unique opportunity to enhance their professional and intercultural competencies on an international scale.
On behalf of and representing the IULI university leadership, the Chairman of the IULI Supervisory Board, Prof. Dr. Heinrich Kern, together with the two members of the IULI Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Peter Scharff and Prof. Dr. Dr. Peter Pscheid, formally signed the Double Degree Agreement alongside Prof. Dr. Harald Riegel, Rector of Aalen University.
“Indonesia is becoming an increasingly important player for German companies, as its large and growing population constitutes a significant market for German products and services,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Stephan Ludwig, Internationalization Officer of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Science. In light of this, Indonesian universities such as IULI represent highly valuable cooperation partners for Aalen University, affirmed Pascal Cromm, Head of the International Office at Aalen University.
Beginning in the summer semester of 2026, students enrolled in the Electrical Engineering program at IULI will have the opportunity to undertake a study abroad program near Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, while simultaneously obtaining a prestigious Double Degree. Participation in this program requires the successful completion of at least two semesters at the partner university. All lectures will be conducted exclusively in English.
"Through this strategic collaboration, we are further strengthening our international network, thereby enhancing the global appeal and competitiveness of our academic programs," remarked Prof. Dr. Harald Riegel, Rector of Aalen University.
