The CyberWuP research project at Aalen University is dedicated to improve cyber security in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), originally limited to companies in the East Württemberg region. It is financed by the Ministry of the Interior, for Digitalization and Municipalities of Baden-Württemberg as part of the digitalization strategy and by Aalen University itself.
Despite numerous materials and initiatives, many SMEs, especially micro and small businesses, are inadequately prepared in the area of cybersecurity. The CyberWuP research project aims to improve this situation by, among other things, developing a simplified concept of measures based on existing guidelines and recommendations. This concept presents the most important security measures for SMEs in an understandable way in order to motivate companies to deal more intensively with cybersecurity and thus reduce the risk of cyber attacks.
The following objectives will be pursued over a period of three years:
Goals
- Improving awareness of cybersecurity
- Motivation to implement security measures
- Increasing cyber resilience
- Focusing on feasibility and sustainability
Sub-Goals
- Involvement of multipliers
- Development of a low-threshold concept of measures
- Information about common cyberattacks and their risks
- Creation of a catalogue of basic measures
Development of a tool for the initial assessment of the security level
