With its top-class research, Aalen University has been achieving excellent results of national and international standing for many years. The aim is to further expand its pioneering position by implementing additional structural and strategic measures in the area of research. The aim of the EMBRACE project is to attract international research talent, to actively support them during on-boarding and throughout their stay in Aalen, and to strengthen the welcoming culture at the university.

Funded with 500,000 Euro

With the EMBRACE project, Aalen University is launching a new, forward-looking development in the field of international research. The project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with 500,000 Euro, includes the establishment of an international service and marketing centre that will ensure the recruitment of young international researchers and promote and support the international activities of researchers.

International research marketing

„The increasingly noticeable demographic change is also leading to increased competition for highly qualified young scientists. The EMBRACE project enables us to close gaps in areas of international research marketing and service for international researchers. In addition to cutting-edge research, this is an important prerequisite for attracting the best minds to the university and the region” says Prof. Volker Knoblauch, Vice Rector for Research and Head of Projects . The project compliments two other projects from the HAW International funding line of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) that were approved in recent years. While the SPItzE project (duration 2019-2021) focused on strategic process and structural measures for internationalisation and the development of an internationalisation strategy, which was adopted by the university’s senate in January 2022, the INTENSE project (duration 2022-2025) promotes the same sustainable implementations for the project.

Networking

The EMBRACE project recently started and will run for two years. The project team have met for a kick-off meeting to ensure the effective implementation of the measures defined in the project. In addition to intensive networking with national and international research networks, the EMBRACE team will also closely involve all interest groups such as the university’s research community and other internal institutions including the Research Academy, the Human Resources Department and the International Centre in its activities from the outset, as well as external partners, for example the local immigration authority.
