Andrea Heidel (AH): Theresa, where are you from and why are you studying in Aalen?
Theresa Willburger (TW): I come from Weil der Stadt, a smaller town in the Stuttgart area, where I also grew up. For my master's degree, I decided to study at Aalen University because of the university's good reputation as well as the possibility of the research master's degree, where the focus is on research in contrast to the classic master's degree. Which I personally find very exciting.
AH: And why did you decide to work at the LAZ?
TW: My interest in the field of laser technology was sparked by my bachelor's thesis, which I completed at a company that offers manufacturing solutions in the areas of laser technology, as well as the elective "Laser Material Processing" that I took during my bachelor's degree at Pforzheim University. Therefore, I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the AMM Master's program at Aalen University during my Master's degree to deal in depth with topics in the field of laser materials processing and to gain my own initial research experience.
AH: What tasks will you have here in the future?
TW: At the LAZ, I will be working on the micromachining of glass materials using an ultrashort pulse laser.
