In the category of 5,000 to 15,000 students, it achieved excellent ratings from students and alumni and landed in second place nationwide, receiving the Category Award 2022. Students especially emphasized the good hybrid teaching offer, which enables participation in lectures and events at Aalen University in the current situation both in presence on campus and digitally.

"For us the award is proof that, despite all the challenges, we at Aalen University have done everything possible to ensure that students can complete their studies as well as possible and look to their professional future with optimism, even during the Corona pandemic", says Rector Prof. Dr. Harald Riegel. "We are delighted with the excellent feedback from the students, which is very valuable for us."

Out of a maximum of ten possible points, Aalen University achieved nine. Students and alumni said that online teaching was well organized and functioned well, and praised the digital exam options. Since the start of the Corona pandemic, Aalen University has greatly expanded its hybrid teaching offerings. The variety of teaching formats creates flexibility and ensures that students can study at any time. This is well received: "There is a lively exchange of information with the students, which is a clear help to us students in these not so easy times," reads one of the evaluations on StudyCheck.de.

The students are also positive about the future due to the numerous collaborations with the industry as well as the research strength of the university. "Since our university is well networked with the surrounding industries, finding a job after graduation will also not be a big problem” students wrote on StudyCheck.de and also praise the personal support provided by the teaching staff. "The lecturers and professors are very interested in ensuring that students get through their studies well and learn a lot," they say. This includes, for example, the Green Technology and Economy qualification program, in which students acquire relevant knowledge in subject areas such as energy efficiency, sustainable mobility and environmentally friendly energy storage, or the excellent research opportunities in the university's new research facilities.

The independent evaluation portal StudyCheck.de says it offers one of the largest student databases in Germany. The rankings are based on an analysis of more than 70,227 evaluations submitted to StudyCheck.de in 2021. The rankings are based on the so-called score value, which is determined from the star ratings and the recommendation rate.
