School of Engineering at your fingertips: Mechanical Engineering meets aviation

Students gain practical insights into machine elements and the fundamentals of flight physics

Recently, students on the General Mechanical Engineering degree programme visited the airfield of the Gerstetten Air Sports Club and got to know the club and the School of Engineering behind the aircraft as part of an excursion, field trip.
The special field was based on the two compulsory/mandatory modules; Machine Elements 1 & 2 of the Studies program, but the event (Allgemein) also covered the basics of flight physics and elements of mechanics for engineering.
The 14 prospective Mechanical Engineering students and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kremer, who supervises the two modules for General Mechanical Engineering, had the opportunity to apply their knowledge to aviation and make references to the lecture material.
With sufficient coffee, plenty of motivation and a warm stove in the clubhouse, the participants used the time from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer many open questions.

"We hope that you enjoyed your time with us and that you were able to take as much as possible from the event (general)! We would like to thank you for your interest and your relaxed manner and look forward to seeing you again," said the flying club.
