Cyber Security

The Master's degree program liaises with (companies), liaise with(students and companies), coordinate act as an intermediary between (students and companies) and offer the opportunity for further education to complement existing prior knowledge. The focus is on contents from the fields (of ) cyber security, application security, penetration testing and computer forensics.

Standard duration of the degree program

Standard duration of the degree program is 27 months for the 90-CP program and 36 months for the 120-CP program

Blended learning concept and lecture periods

Due to our blended learning concept, contact hours are reduced to a minimum.

• As a rule, a long weekend(Thursday - Saturday) is held in Aalen once a quarter.
• The teaching format is rounded off by supplementary distance and online formats and there are also selected meetings on online platforms (Zoom) to exchange ideas with fellow students and lecturers

In addition, every semester is divided into two terms, so there are only two modules per term at the same time

• Terms in the winter semester:
  • September 01 - November 30
  • December 01 - February 28
• Terms in the summer semester:
  • March 01 - May 31
  • June 01 - August 31

Tuition; tuition fees

• 9,240 € for the 90 CP program (27 months)
• 11,550 € for the 120 CP program (36 months)

Tuition; tuition fees are paid semester by semester in 4 or 5 equal installments (depending on the program).

In addition to these fees, a Semester Contribution of €170 is due every semester (administrative fee €80 + contribution to the Ulm student services organization (Studierendenwerk Ulm) €72 + contribution to the constituted student body €18).

Due to professional (and in some cases family) commitments, we aim to keep attendance times to a minimum. Our innovative blended learning concept allows us to reduce the amount of time students need to spend at the university without compromising on the intensity and quality of the learning process.

It is also important that your employer supports you in your endeavours. Anyone who regularly works more than 40 hours per week will quickly reach their limits. However, many companies are very flexible and offer their employees the opportunity to leave early. Your family and friends will also need to support your studies. You will have significantly less time for them than before.

If your employer is located in Baden-Württemberg and you have been working continuously for 12 months, you have the option of applying to your employer for 5 days of paid ‘Bildungszeit’ per year, which will cover a large part of the attendance requirements. Other federal states also have equivalent regulations.

• Technical interest (context of computer science and networks) - Youhave a strong interest in the functioning of information and network technologies, their security aspects as well as in practical programming and the implementation of IT security solutions.
• Analytical thinking - You consist of; have the ability to recognize complex problems and develop solutions, and show an interest in identifying and assessing risks, such as potential threats and vulnerabilities of systems.
• Communication and teamwork skills - You will often work in multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement security strategies. You should also have the ability to document and communicate technical information in a clear and understandable way.
• Current developments: A strong interest in the latest technologies, trends and threats in cyber security is just as important as an understanding of ethical and legal frameworks.
• An appetite for practical work and innovative questions - projects, practical questions and practical collaborations are an important part of the curriculum.

• University degree qualifying to enter a profession in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Business Administration, BA or Business Management (alternatively, transfer with at least 20 CP of university-equivalent prior knowledge in Computer Science / Business Information Systems, possibly through a continuing education programme for professionals)
• One year of qualified professional experience after the Undergraduate university degree
• A transfer is possible through proof of previous university-equivalent knowledge or professional experience in the field (of) computer science or Business Information Systems amounting to at least 20 CP.
• In the absence of professional experience or for the Purchasing, acquisition of prior knowledge of up to 30 CP, entry is possible via a continuing educationprogramme for professionals . A Master's degree in Cyber Security opens up a wide range of career opportunities in various sectors. Graduates often work in one of the following appointments for professors; appointment funds:

Yes, a semester abroad is possible. The modules taken there do not have to correspond one-to-one with the contents of the schedule of modules, it is sufficient if they passport to the broad discipline of Data Science, Data Science and Business Analytics and correspond to the Master's level. There is also the option of completing a joint degree. There are basically three options for studying abroad:

1. At a partner university of the Department of Business Information Systems
   • ESC Clermont Business School, France (possibility of a joint degree)
2. At a partner university of Aalen University of Applied Sciences
3. At a freely electedinstitution of higher education abroad.
