The Laboratory for Systems Integration & User Interfaces provides a development and evaluation environment in which distributed, cooperative, multisensory algorithms and systems are tested under laboratory conditions. The hardware basis for this consists of a range of miniature robots and mini-drones equipped with standard sensor systems. The facility is complemented by an optical tracking system serving as a global data reference, with a measurement volume of 8 m × 5 m × 3 m, which is used for coupling with simulation environments such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or Godot. Display technology as well as several high-end PCs for computational tasks, visualization, and the training of machine learning methods complete this environment. The associated EDA center enables the in-house development of drone and sensor systems at the PCB, microcontroller, and FPGA level.
