The Module Handbook
What is the purpose of the Module Handbook?
The respective module handbook provides you with information about the degree program-specific modules and supplies you with all the important details for each module.
It is an important source of information that you should use throughout your studies together with the Regulations for Studies and Examinations (SPO). It offers the necessary information, especially when choosing elective subjects and also when structuring your studies.
!! Please note that the version changes each semester. You can find the latest version here. Make sure you are always up to date.
What information does the Module Handbook provide?
The module handbook provides the following information for each module, among other things:
- Name of the module
- Module number
- Number of Credit Points (CP)
- Scope of workload
- Start of the offering (ATTENTION: Please note that some modules only start in the winter OR summer semester. This can be important for planning.)
- Form of knowledge transfer
- Learning objectives
- Course content
- Admission requirements
- Type of module (compulsory, elective compulsory, or elective module)
- Lecturer
- Composition of the grade
- ...
When changing degree programs within the same university, but also between different universities, there is often the possibility to have credits transferred. To do this, it is necessary to submit an application for recognition. You can find this and the corresponding information, as well as deadlines, here:
The Regulations for Studies and Examinations (SPO) is a central document that will accompany you throughout your studies. It provides you with a wide range of information and lists the relevant requirements. For example, you will find regulations on elective subjects, the practical semester, the duration of studies, various deadlines, and much more.
Familiarize yourself with the SPO, even if it seems confusing at first. It will help you clarify many of your questions.
Please note that you should always consider the general and the special parts together. Some things are regulated across all degree programs in the general part, while others are only in the special part.
You can find the respective SPO under the corresponding link: Satzungen
