Materials for Sustainability

You are interested in natural sciences and engineering as applied to future technologies, because materials and their surfaces are of fundamental importance for the properties of components and their functions. They are enablers for the challenges of the future that make high-end applications possible in the first place.

• How can smart, switchable or self-healing surfaces be realized? What non-examination-based activities you have undertaken in preparation for higher education?
• What innovative material and process approaches are there to make high-performance batteries, fuel cells and solar cells even better?
• How can green hydrogen be produced, stored, transported and handled?
• What range of requirements must a material meet in the application in terms of weighting, mechanical stability, corrosion and wear resistance as well as decorative properties?

• What is the best combination of substrate material and surface coating?

   

You will work in Research and Development or Production in traditional or sunrise industries, new industries, often at the interface of various natural and engineering sciences. You are an important link in this process. Experts of your kind are comparatively rare and therefore particularly valuable to companies or research institutions. Depending on your interests, you also have the opportunity to continue your education via a consecutive Master's degree, a subsequent doctorate or, for example, in the direction of business development, product management, technical sales and distribution or as an executive in senior management.
