Research instituteInstitute Center for Optical Technologies (ZOT)
The ZOT (Center for Optical Technologies) is one of two optics research centres of the Aalen School of Applied Photonics at Aalen University of Applied Sciences(AASAP). Together with the Laser Applications Center(LAZ), it forms the "research" pillar of AASAP. The two other pillars of AASAP are represented by teaching (Bachelor's degree programme in Optical Engineering, masters/master's programme in Applied Photonics, doctoral programme in Applied Photonics) and the topic of promotion of junior researchers & network.
There are 7 working groups at ZOT:
Robot-based polishing processes
Measuring processes, 3D printing processes, process simulation
Process simulation
AI methods
Process control
Process measurement technology
Ultra-short laser pulses
Time-resolved spectroscopy
Nonlinear frequency conversion
Additive manufacturing
μ-projection stereolithography, ink-jet printing
Nano-imprinting lithography
Dielectrophoresis
Neural networks
Understanding vision
Adaptive optics technology
Simulation of vision
Imaging
Visualization of cell mechanisms
from μm to nm:
Fluorescence microscope, correlative light & electron microscope, cryo-tomography
Data handling
Optoelectronic components
Electronics Metrology
Sensor technology
ZOT carries out basic and application-oriented research projects in the above-mentioned fields (of) with industry or other institutions of higher education or university partners. The ZOT is financed, funding is provided by public funding bodies (e.g. DFG, BMBF, BW Stiftung, etc.) as well as by direct industrial cooperation.
