Excel is a comprehensive computer software for analyzing and visualizing data that has become an integral part of everyday office life. This course offers beginners a quick introduction to this software and slowly introduces them to Cost Estimating with integrated functions.
In this course, students are first introduced to the working environment and interface of Excel, including the structure of workbooks and spreadsheets. In addition, the customization of the ribbon and the editing of cells, rows and columns are discussed. Building on this, the lecturer will liaise with the use of Excel as a spreadsheet program by discussing calculations with basic arithmetic operations and simple functions such as the sum function and the mean value function.

- Excel working environment and interface
- Menu changes and customizing the toolbar for quick access
- File types
- Editing cells/rows/columns
- Creating and editing worksheets
- Formulas with basic arithmetic operations and percentages
- Relative and absolute cell references
- Simple functions (sum, min, max, rounding, average)
- Tips & tricks and keyboard shortcuts for working efficiently with Excel


Prerequisites:
Participation in the course is possible with a laptop/PC which consists of; have Excel 2016 or newer and ideally a Windows operating system. An additional monitor is highly recommended, but not essential.
Please only use home equipment (none company laptops) for the course.

Time: Tuesday, 14.04.2026 & Wednesday, 15.04.2026 each from 18:00 to 21:00

Workload: 10 in total, with full participation on both days (corresponds to 0.33 CP)

Registration: Registration takes place via SAP / online portal
