The talk; lecture takes place as part of, within the framework of the general studies part of the degree program at Aalen University of Applied Sciences and is part of the current semester topic "Disinformation, Fake News and Conspiracy Narratives", which is organized in collaboration, cooperation with the adult education center Aalen (VHS).
Matthias Ebert was the first ARD reporter to be in Syria in December 2024 when the regime of ruler Assad fell. He was reporting live when Israeli and Turkish missiles also hit the Kurdish region in northern Syria. He also traveled to the region several times afterwards. For his documentaries and reporting, he also relies on moving image material from social networks. How does the crisis reporter ensure that this material is genuine? What are his sources, especially in live reporting? A masterclass on journalistic credibility in the digital age - especially when rockets are flying, bombs are hitting and extreme time pressure makes journalistic work difficult.
Matthias Ebert is a reporter and foreign journalist for ARD and reports on international crises, political developments and social topics. In his work, he is regularly on assignment in various regions and liaises with (companies), liaise between (students and companies), act as an intermediary between current events and their backgrounds.
A special field of his journalistic work is careful research and the classification of complex issues under challenging conditions. As a speaker, he provides insights into the practice; practical experience of international journalism and shows what is required of credible reporting in the digital age.
