The talk; lecture takes place within the framework of the general studies part of the degree program of Aalen University of Applied Sciences and is part of the current semester topic "Disinformation, Fake News and Conspiracy Narratives", which is organized in collaboration, cooperation with the adult education center Aalen (VHS).

Disinformation as the greatest short-term risk for people on Earth? In its Risk Report 2025, the World Economic Forum has now clearly stated for the second time why, among other things, the manipulation of opinion in elections and sophisticated destabilization strategies based on (AI-generated) floods of disinformation are causing considerable damage to our democratic societies and economic stability. We look at these connections and broaden our view of the problems of Europe's lack of digital sovereignty so that we don't end up burying our heads in the sand, but instead find the solution in each and every one of us: let's work together to be non-examination-based activities you have undertaken in preparation for higher education and lobby massively for a resilient information society whose responsible communication hygiene can give us stability, trust and confidence.

Julia Kaltenbacher heads the field (of) media literacy at Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and deals intensively with the effects of digital communication on society and democratic processes. In her work, she develops education and communication formats that help people to critically assess information and navigate the digital media world with confidence. A special field of her work is raising awareness of disinformation and strengthening responsible and reflective media use.

She is a regular speaker at institutions of higher education, educational establishments and specialist events and combines academic findings with practical examples from media work. Her aim is to promote media literacy as a central Key qualification, transferable skill in an increasingly digital society.
