Services for students

The German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is intended to enable young people to finance the vocational training that corresponds to their abilities and inclinations. Students receive BAföG (German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG)) if their own financial resources and those of their parents or spouse/life partner are unsatisfactory. As a rule, half of the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is granted as a grant (= gift) and half as an interest-free loan. A maximum of €10,010 of the loan amount must be repaid.

If all prerequisites(s) of the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) are met, students are legally entitled to receive BAföG (national student grant). The amount of funding depends on the individual circumstances.

Information events organized by the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) Office

At least once per semester, staff from the BAföG Office inform students at Aalen University about funding opportunities, means of funding and how to apply. We will inform you promptly on a timely basis via email to your student account about the courses, which usually take place online.

Contrary to what many people think, scholarships are not just for the highly gifted. For many scholarship funding donors, for example, on a voluntary basis or commitment to certain social values is particularly important. There is a large scholarship landscape in Germany. This includes the 13 scholarship funding organizations, the Deutschlandstipendium (national scholarship programme) and over 2000 small scholarship funding donors, some of which specialize in funding in certain regions (e.g. in the Ostalbkreis).

If you have received an official letter stating that you have lost the right of admission to sit examinations , there may be three reasons for this:

• You have fewer than 45 CPs after the 3rd semester.
• You have failed an examination for a third time.
• You have not completed your Studies after 10 semesters.

In all these cases, we offer to give you advice on the next possible steps. It is important that you adhere to the deadlines stated in the letter in order to submit a justified application, request to continue your studies (case of) financial hardship, or to lodge an objection.
