Childcare at the institution of higher education - Marie-Curie daycare center

In November 2024, the new municipal daycare center Marie-Curie will open on the Waldcampus. With a total of five groups, it will offer space for up to 80 children from the age of 1. The Marie-Curie daycare center will implement the infans concept, the orientation plan for education and upbringing of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The concept enables children to learn in a sustainable way through various educational areas (e.g. building and construction, creative space, role-play space, etc.). Through collaboration, cooperation with the institution of higher education, there will also be various offers in the field of STEM for the children. For example, an annual Kids' University will be offered, interested children can take part in excursions to the institution of higher education and educators will be specially trained by explorhino to introduce children to STEM topics in a playful way. The daycare center's bilingual (English/German) concept is also particularly noteworthy.

The daycare center offers full-day places (Monday - Thursday from 07:00 - 17:15 and Friday from 07:00 - 16:00) or renewed opening hours (Monday - Friday 07:00 - 14:00). The institution of higher education offers its staff and Professors / members of the academic staff 9 places for children. These can be requested from Ms. Angelika Scholz from the Human Resources Department (angelika.scholz@hs-aalen.de) or the Equal Opportunities Department (gleichstellung@hs-aalen.de).

For students, the student services organization (Studierendenwerk) offers 2 places for children who do not come from the city of Aalen. These can be requested from Mr. Krstimir Krizaj (krstimir.krizaj@studierendenwerk-ulm.de, Tel. 0731 79031-142, Room C 156) from the student services organization (Studierendenwerk).

Childcare on Campus

In addition to the daycare center, several breastfeeding and changing facilities are available on Campus, providing discreet retreats. The Cafeteria offers child-friendly facilities and a free lunch for children of students up to the age of ten. A mobile play box can also be borrowed, loaned for short-term childcare situations. There are also collaborations, cooperation with municipal childcare facilities in Aalen.

A mobile play box can be borrowed, loaned for short-term childcare during a lecture or at the work station. It contains toys and books for children from 8 months to 7 years and is available at the Infopoint (main building, upper floor room 235a) and in Burren G4 (lower floor room -1.09).

Breastfeeding and changing facilities on Campus

Aalen University of Applied Sciences offers students and staff with children various quiet rooms where they can breastfeed. Changing tables are located throughout the Campus in both ladies' and men's toilets. There is a breastfeeding and nappy-changing facility in the Great Hall lecture theatre building (basement, room -1.13). A breastfeeding room with a screen is located in Beethovenstraße 1 (ground floor, room 126); there is also a breastfeeding room in the Parent and Child Room on the upper floor (room 278b). Changing tables are also available in the ladies' and men's toilets in Burren G1 and Burren G2 (ground floor) and in the disabled toilets in Burren G3 and Burren G4 (ground floor).

Free children's menus in the Cafeteria

The Cafeteria on the university campus offers various child-friendly options, including barrier-free access, highchairs and free lunch for children of students up to the age of 10. A Cafeteria Kids ID card is required, which can be obtained from the Cafeteria management upon presentation of a birth certificate or similar identification document.

Caring for a relative

The institution of higher education supports employment with care responsibilities by providing trained care guides as a first point of contact. They offer guidance and liaise with external advisory services if necessary. Flexible working time models and organizational solutions help to reconcile appointment funding for professors; appointment funds with family care responsibilities.

Psychotherapeutic Counselling Center for Students (PBS)

The PBS of the student services organization (Studierendenwerk) Ulm offers students individual counseling (in German or English) on psychosocial problems and scientific questions. Registration takes place via the secretary's office.

Educational and family counseling center (regional offices Aalen)

The parenting and family advice center offers a free advisory service, guidance, advice on questions and problems relating to child rearing, bringing up children and family life.

wellcome - support after the birth

wellcome offers practical support up to the first year of life. Voluntary helpers provide clearance of outstanding debts for parents in everyday tasks.

Award and quality standards

The institution of higher education has been awarded the title of "family-conscious company" several times by FamilyNET. Among other things, leadership skills, flexible working time models, personnel development; human resource development, health planning and services for families were assessed. These awards underline the strategic claim to promote compatibility in the long term.
