The careful use of natural resources is a central social challenge of our time and is the focus of the iSPC's research activities. Prof. Taha's research vision includes the development of new materials that flow in one of two cycles as part of a circular economy (see figure): In the biological cycle (green), raw material resources are returned to nature; in the technical cycle (orange), they linger endlessly as a product, module or material.
Three research focuses are derived from this: Sustainable materials, lightweight construction and recycling. The results are always documented in a way that enables subsequent AI-supported material and process selection.
