In our 3rd variant of the "Optical Engineering" degree program, you can start your "research-oriented" studies as early as the 1st semester or after the 3rd semester (after stage 1 studies). Here too, you will complete the regular vocational training for a Bachelor's degree in the Department / Division of Optical Engineering. In addition, you will spend one day a week working on your own research topic at the Center for Optical Technologies (ZOT), possibly also at the Laser Application Center at Aalen University of Applied Sciences. In order to get to know all the working groups at ZOT, you will switch to a different group every semester. You will also complete your practical semester in a school, practical semester, your project and your Bachelor's thesis in applied research at ZOT. You are officially employed at ZOT with an employment contract - this gives you financial advantages for your Studies.
To strengthen your vocational training in applied research, you will take special Elective Courses in your stage 2 studies that will prepare you for a career in the field (of) Research and Development. Your project work will take place at ZOT, and you can also choose to complete your practical semester in a school, industrial placement semester and Master's thesis in industry.
The research-integrated degree program offers you the opportunity to staff several different fields of research, giving you an impression of the many options for your final thesis and your time after graduation. In addition, you will not only get to know different research areas, but also numerous laboratory devices.
