The department, institute

The Department, Institute for Drive Technology Aalen (IAA) consists of; have state-of-the-art institutions for the development of new drive concepts, the examination and validation of transmission systems, the optimization of electric and hybrid drives and manufacturing processes. We are at the forefront of research in the field (of) drive technology and focus on sustainable and efficient systems with a strong emphasis on condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. The IAA consists of; have Aalen University of Applied Sciences' largest test rig, the Road to Rig Test Bench (VAPS), which enables the examination of e-drive systems, transmissions and vehicles for a variety of applications for credit, performance and reliability analysis. In cooperation, cooperative venture, partnership, collaboration, the department, institute focuses on:

Overview

The number of electric vehicles in Germany is steadily increasing. In addition to the automotive industry, electric drive concepts have found their way into many other vehicle segments due to the advancement of battery technology. In addition to the automotive industry, the research focus is on drive concepts in the bicycle sector, the development and testing of an electrified recumbent tandem and, in the field (of) heavy-duty vehicles, the testing of a shiftable transmission for an electric off-highway vehicle. Smart drive systems and optimal operating strategies are required for the sustainable use of available Energy.

Intelligent and scalable manual transmission

Due to the ongoing development of electrically powered commercial vehicles, new challenges are arising in the development and testing of new transmission concepts. In this context, a wide variety of drivetrain topologies are increasingly being considered at the Department, Institute of Drive Technology. The changed characteristics of the new electric drive units result in new development goals and testing opportunities.

For testing new intelligent and scalable manual transmission platforms, the Department, Institute of Drive Technology has a modern test bench infrastructure at its disposal. Test benches such as the complete vehicle test bench or the APS300 drivetrain test bench enable investigations/analyses of new shifting and operating strategies.

Bio-hybrid tandem recumbent bicycle

If long drifts are your thing, then the tandem electric recumbent bike is just right for you. The two central administration; main campus allows double the riding fun, so you can always take your good friend with you wherever you go. Powerful acceleration thanks to two high-torque electric motors. The chassis comes from Formula 1 and, with its double-wishbone axles, it can iron over any obstacle, no matter how big. The four shock absorbers with air suspension ensure that you stay in contact with the ground in every situation and always remain in control. Even the steepest descents are no problem for you and the vehicle thanks to the low special field of gravity. The hydraulic disc brakes with four pistons bite like an anchor on every wheel. The motor power can be set to four different levels. The ULTRA level conquers any mountain, no matter how high, and then gives you a rapid descent.

Aalender Colloquium on Drive Technology Applications (AKAA)

The AKAA is an established conference of the IAA at Aalen University of Applied Sciences.
It takes place every two years on the Campus of the institution of higher education and offers the economy, business, industry and scholarshop (allgem.) the opportunity to exchange information on current development projects and new results from drive technology. There is also the chance to network and learn about exciting solutions beyond your own areas of application.
