Research institute Center for Reliable Mechatronic Systems (ZMS)

Founded in 2015 by Professor Markus Glaser, the Center for Reliable Mechatronic Systems focuses on the development and verification of systems in extreme environmental conditions where a high degree of safety and reliability is required. Around 15 members of staff and students work in Systems Engineering and component development in research projects in the fields (of) deep-sea technology, battery technology and medical technology in collaboration, cooperation with industrial partners.

In addition to all the necessary tools for system development and simulation, the center's laboratory / lab is equipped with motor test benches, load simulators and real-time systems for qualifying electric drives, among other things. There are also systems for analyzing biomechanical parameters such as motion profiles and ground reaction forces.

The skills of members of staff and students from a wide range of engineering sectors form reliable, safe Mechatronic Systems at the highest technical level.

In close exchange through regular project meetings, a cooperative doctorate is supervised together with Professor Ralph Kennel.

The ZMS cooperates with the Department, Institute for Machine Elements (IMA) at the University of Stuttgart. The special field is reliability engineering. The close cooperation, cooperative venture, partnership, collaboration with the IMA makes it possible to carry out a cooperative doctorate at the ZMS.

Your tasks as a Student Research Assistant / Student Teaching Assistent in the battery laboratory

Supervisor and support of measurement setups in the laboratory / lab
Documentation and maintenance of existing battery test benches
Carrying out and evaluating measurements
Support in the further development of examiner and test setups

Your profile

To work as a Student Research Assistant / Student Teaching Assistent in the laboratory, you ideally have the following qualities

Independent and structured way of working
Good communication skills
Interest in Electronics and Metrology
Basic knowledge of Python, LabVIEW or Matlab/Simulink (an advantage)
