Research Projects DataCast (Prof. Dr. Rössle)

In the DataCast research project, we are working together with the foundry at Aalen University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Dr. Kallien). Sensor and machine data from the die casting process are evaluated in real time using machine learning processes. The models should help to gain a better understanding of the die casting process and enable an immediate quality forecast of the cast parts. This will enable us to reduce commissions and thus drastically cut die casting costs.

Research Projects Methodology and Software Tool for IT Service Evaluation (Prof. Dr. Rössle)

The research project "Methodology and software tool for IT service evaluation" is being carried out in collaboration, cooperation with the company RÖWAPLAN from Abtsgmünd (www.roewaplan.com). The aim is to do justice to the growing importance of services (especially IT services). Although products today are developed with the aid of computers in CAD, the development of an IT service often remains "manual work". This is the starting point of the project. Like products, IT landscapes consist of components, building blocks and elements. Mapping and resolving the dependencies between the components of an IT service is the task of the project. By standardizing and reusing the individual elements, the development of IT services is to be simplified and automated.

In a second step, the project investigates the assessment, rating of services. Neither measuring the efficiency of an IT service through user surveys (top-down) nor collecting technical parameters (bottom-up) provide a consistent complete picture, but only partial statements about sections of IT services. For this reason, algorithms and methods are being developed as part of the framework of the project that enable a holistic assessment, rating of IT services.
