Modern social and economic systems are characterized by the following features:

• accelerated change processes in interaction with changes in social, economic and ecological conditions
• increasing complexity with regard to the temporal behavior and the relationships between the actors/elements of the systems

The approach first pursued at MIT (Sloan School of Management) to make the right decisions in such systems is known as System Dynamics or Business Dynamics. The aim is to create a way of thinking in systems by first converting qualitative ideas about the system into quantitative (i.e. mathematics) models . On the basis of these models, simulations can then be created which allow (a) the models to be compared with the available data and (b) the effects of decisions (interventions) to be estimated.

As part of the Program for More Quality in Teaching, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has provided Aalen University of Applied Sciences with third-party funding, which was used to set up the Grundlagenzentrum.

This center designs and organizes measures to accompany the transition from school to the institution of higher education, especially in the subject, mathematics (e.g. preliminary courses, tutorials, office hours, consultation hours).

1. science and scholarshop (allg.) is also an important part of the task. As part of this, extensive and - due to its uniqueness - very valuable data (e.g. self-assessment, learning progress, socio-demographic data) is collected, which can serve as a basis for system-dynamic modeling.

Furthermore, transfer topics are also conceivable with regard to personnel planning and development, e.g. in the transition from institution of higher education to company.

• Statistical analysis of learning progress in the subject, discipline (an expert) in the transition from school to higher education
• Statistical correlation between learning progress in the subject, field, discipline (an expert) and educational background / socio-demographic background at the transition from school to higher education
• Modelling of learning progress in the subject, discipline (an expert) mathematics at the transition from school to higher education
• Modelling of student numbers and development of an admission strategy using the example of a degree programme
• Transfer model for personnel planning with regard to the integration and qualification of new members of staff (pl. staff), employee (pl. employees)
• Transfer model for personnel development; human resource development with regard to corporate culture (e.g. continuous funding of members of staff), employee (e.g. employees)
