Christmas greetings from the Field of Study Human Centricity

What does a degree course that focuses on people look like? In the Field of Study Human Centricity and in the degree programmes Information Design, User Experience and Human-Centered Design, we have a clear answer: it is practical, reflective and creative - and it combines design, user experience and attitude.

A visible example of this is this year's Christmas card. It was created in Module 2 Visualization in the 3rd academic semester and was designed by Bernd Reznicek. The card exemplifies the interplay between our degree programmes: visual design, user-centered thinking and the conscious handling of impact and meaning.

The accompanying photos were taken by students. The photographic teaching is accompanied by Michael Ankenbrand, who liaises with (companies), liaise between (students and companies), coordinate act as an intermediary between. The cooperation, cooperative venture, partnership collaboration takes place in conjunction with the Spectrum photo studio, which provides the practical framework for this.

A total of 350 Christmas cards were sent out - none of which are now left. Each one was signed by hand. Because despite all the digitalization, the personal mark (UK), grade (US) remains an essential part of both the design and our teaching.

The Christmas card is part of a living tradition: every semester, students in the 2D visualization module develop the imagery for our Christmas and Easter greetings. So it may well be that students starting in the 2026 summer semester will design the Christmas card for 2027.

We understand design not as a surface, but as being responsible for... contents, for use and for people.
