Please take the items you wish to borrow from the shelf and borrow them using your library card at the self-checkout desk or at the service point. Items that cannot be borrowed are marked with a yellow sticker. Please also note that some items are located in special locations or are on permanent loan from institutions of higher education or teaching staff.
Reservations
If an item is on loan you can place it on reserve in the detailed view of the WebCatalog.
- After this, the item can no longer be renewed by the current borrower.
- You will receive an e-mail, email as soon as the item has been returned.
- The item will be held for you at the service point for 7 days.
- Bring the collection code from the e-mail, email to collect the item.
Loan period, borrowing period borrowing terms
- Normal loan period: 28 days, for institutions of higher education and teaching staff 56 days
- Non-circulating collection (yellow sticker): none available for borrowing, lending
- Technical equipment: 28 days
- Laptops: 28 days
- Journals: 14 days, the latest issue is non-circulating, circulating, loanable
- Keys for lockers: 14 days
Reminder
You will receive an e-mail, email reminder two days before the loan period, lending period, borrowing term expires.
- University members will receive the e-mail, email to their university address.
- You can return or renew items.
Extension
- Items can be renewed up to six times.
- Laptops cannot be renewed.
- Each extension is valid for 28 days (56 days for members of the institution of higher education and teaching staff).
- Extensions are possible via:
- An extension is not possible if:
- the item has already been renewed six times
- the item is placed on reserve
- your account has high late fees
- your account is blocked
Returning items
- Items can be returned to the self-checkout desk or the service point during the library's opening hours.
- Items can be returned to the book return box in front of the library at any time. The personnel, Human Resources (department) empties the box several times a day, but no later than the next working day, and returns the items.
- At the return machine in Beethovenstraße in the BibSpot and in the WIN building, the items are booked directly from the account when they are inserted.
- The library recommends returning overdue items to the library in person to avoid late fees.
Late fees
- If items are returned late, late fees will be charged after a few grace days.
- The 1st reminder; notice; overdue notice will be sent by email (Studmail). Further reminders will follow by post.
- The 1st reminder will incur a charge of €1.50 / item, the 2nd reminder €5 / item and each subsequent reminder €10 / item.
- Members of staff (pl. staff), employees (pl. employees) are sent reminders free of charge.
- The reminders are sent out weekly.
- If the reminded item is not returned after the 4th reminder; notice; overdue notice, a replacement will be due. The costs are borne by the user.
- Fees can be paid using a university ID card at the fee machine next to the service point or in cash.
