On 6 December 2014, the Board of Trustees of Pacific University officially announced that Prof. Dietmar Kümmel will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Pacific University, Oregon, USA, on 16 May 2015 for his wide-ranging vision and great achievements in the development of optometry in Europe and the establishment and expansion of international cooperation between universities, professors and students. The Pacific University, founded in 1849 and the oldest university on the American West Coast, bestows this title extremely rarely. The Aalen University of Applied Sciences is also pleased to receive this outstanding award from Prof. Dr. h. c. Dietmar Kümmel very much.

Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dietmar Kümmel: Doctor of Science Sc. D. honoris causa 

On 6 December 2014, the Board of Trustees of Pacific University officially announced that Prof. Dietmar Kümmel will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Pacific University, Oregon, USA, for his wide-ranging vision and great achievements in the development of optometry in Europe and the establishment and expansion of international cooperation between universities, professors and students. Of course, the Aalen University of Applied Sciences is also delighted with this outstanding award.

Professor Dietmar Kuemmel wants to be receiving an honorary degree (DSc) from Pacific University, College of Optometry, this year on May 16th. He is being recognized by our sister' university in the US for his remarkable vision and leadership to advance European optometry through the expansion of optometric science in this region. He continues to serve as a role model and mentor to students, faculty and colleagues in the profession.
